Amy is a generous mentor and leader who inspires positive change both through her work as the director of finance at TELUS in Vancouver and through her service in the profession and the community.
As a member of TELUS’s Financial Management Development Program Steering Committee, Amy supports the organization’s pre-approved program for CPA candidates and advises on initiatives to improve professional models and practices. She is also a highly respected and sought-after coach and mentor of CPA students and early-career CPAs.
After her daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Williams syndrome, Amy became involved with the Canadian Association for Williams Syndrome (CAWS) as a board director and treasurer. In addition to using her CPA expertise to revitalize governance practices, secure new funding, and advise on strategic planning, she has organized fundraising campaigns for the non-profit organization and is the author of the children’s book Life with Williams Syndrome, the proceeds of which have been donated to CAWS.
In 2017, Amy combined her passions for entrepreneurship and philanthropy by launching UNION Swimwear, a socially responsible business that donated profits to an organization funding clean water projects in Cambodia and Ethiopia.
“Amy has a long history of volunteering and leveraging her skills as a CPA to improve communities locally and abroad. For example, as a volunteer with the Canadian Association for Williams Syndrome, Amy mentors families navigating the challenges of our health-care system for those with a Williams syndrome diagnosis by connecting them to vital resources and leveraging her extensive network.”
