Students taking CPA courses in the Professional Education Program (PEP) can apply for a bursary if they registered for, or completed, Core 1 at the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB). These bursaries are based on financial need and open to students residing in BC.

Brian Friedrich, FCPA, FCGA, was a stalwart and respected member of the profession who lived life to the fullest, on his own terms, and challenged those around him to push boundaries, re-examine the status quo, and question arbitrary conventions. In honour of his legacy, this bursary is established to recognize a student attending a recognized post-secondary institution in BC, including career-changers who are expanding their academic qualifications to pursue the CPA designation. Preference is given to individuals with a background in disciplines other than accounting or finance, particularly those from fields that involve scientific or technological innovation, or the application of social sciences who are now pursuing a career in accounting.

CPAEF offers a bursary of up to $3,000 to Indigenous students at the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) who are in actively enrolled in the PEP program. Proof of registration in a CPA PEP course as well as proof of Indigenous heritage are required*. The bursary is based on financial need and open to Indigenous students residing in BC.
*Proof of Indigenous heritage includes a copy of the following documents: Indian status card; Métis Citizenship Card; Inuit Beneficiary Card;
If you do not have one of the above cards then a letter of acknowledgement of your ancestry from a First Nation, Métis Nation, or Inuit agreement administrator may suffice. If there is an issue obtaining these documents, please reach out to cpaef@bccpa.ca

This bursary is awarded to one student per application round. It is available to those taking CPA preparatory courses at the CPA Western School of Business or an accredited post-secondary institution in BC, as well as students that are registered in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP), demonstrate service to their community and financial need. Preference is given to a student who need funding to purchase computer equipment.

This award is open to BC students who identify as Indigenous and are in their third or fourth year of a BBA or Bcom program with an accounting concentration or who are enrolled in a diploma program in accounting. Indigenous students enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution and who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, protected persons, or students with study permits are eligible.
Applicants must have completed at least one intermediate financial accounting course, and demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement and financial need. Please ensure that your application specifies the name of the award you are applying for.

In support of PEP candidates with children under 12 years of age, CPAEF is offering a supplement of $500 to put towards childcare expenses. Proof to children and childcare expenses will be required. Please submit a birth certificate and receipt for childcare expenses along with your application.
Two students at the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) are awarded $500 each for the top and second place score in the Audit and Assurance preparatory course each calendar year. No application necessary. Awards will be distributed in January.
Sometimes a crisis happens. It can’t always be planned for. The ability to work, support a family or study may be affected, and the Education Foundation is here to help.
If you are a BC resident and a PEP Candidate at the CPA Western School of Business and are experiencing financial hardship, the Education Foundation Benevolent Fund may be able to help. Funds of up to $5,000 to cover financial hardships incurred due to urgent and challenging life circumstances are available. Circumstances such as debilitating health issues, accidents, displacement due to wildfire, or other crises may be covered. This fund may also provide support to the immediate family of a deceased PEP Candidate suffering financial hardship from the loss of their loved one.
