Surrey/Langley/North Delta Chapter - The Coldest Night of the Year Walk Event Recap
On Saturday, Feb 25, 2023, over 700 walkers from 78 different teams participated in the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk in the Surrey Cloverdale location, and raised collectively over $275,000.
CNOY is an annual family-friendly event to raise money, by walking either 2km or 5km, in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. This year, the CPABC Surrey/Langley/North Delta (SLND) Chapter joined their Surrey Cloverdale location, hosted by Cloverdale Community Kitchen. Cloverdale Community Kitchen is a non-for-profit organization that offers meals to the homeless and also provides emergency weather shelter and clothes to those in need.
The SLND Chapter was represented by 12 individuals including CPA members, friends, and family, and the team raised $820 with 20 sponsors! Walkers were rewarded with hot chocolate and snacks at rest stops along the way. The event was able to live up to its name as the Coldest Night of the Year, as the team enjoyed walking in the falling snowflakes with light flurries throughout the evening. At the end of the walk, everyone was rewarded with a light dinner put on by the Cloverdale Community Kitchen.
Overall fun was had by all, while making an impact in our local community. Hope you join us next year!
